Describe the bug
Version
- FreeShow 1.6.5-beta.2
- FreeShow 1.6.5-beta.3
Problem
There is an audio bug in both FreeShow 1.6.5-beta.2 and beta.3.
When music/audio is currently playing and I switch the output to display a Bible Scripture slide, the Main audio suddenly stops.
The music is playing normally before switching to Scripture, but immediately after displaying the Scripture, there is no sound from the Main output.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open FreeShow 1.6.5-beta.2 or beta.3.
- Start playing an audio/music file.
- Confirm that the Main output has audio.
- Display a Bible Scripture slide.
- The Main audio stops immediately after switching to Scripture.
Expected Behavior
Displaying a Scripture slide should not affect the currently playing audio.
The music/audio should continue playing normally when switching between:
- Media slides
- Text slides
- Bible Scripture slides
- Other presentation slides
Actual Behavior
When switching to a Bible Scripture slide while audio is playing:
Main audio → stops / becomes silent
The issue occurs consistently in both:
- 1.6.5-beta.2
- 1.6.5-beta.3
Important Observation
This appears to be related to the recent Audio Routing / Audio Engine changes, because the problem started with the newer 1.6.5 beta versions.
Beta.2 introduced:
- Audio Routing System
- Desktop Audio Input
- Per-playlist routing
- Audio delay
Beta.3 also contains several audio-related changes and fixes:
- Audio settings improvements
- Main thread should no longer block audio signal
- Fixed NDI audio issues
- Fixed Icecast audio
- Fixed audio meter value
- Video/audio playback fixes
However, the Main audio can still stop when switching to Scripture.
Possible Area to Investigate
Please check whether switching to a Scripture slide causes any of the following:
- Audio output/routing being reset
- Playlist audio routing being changed
- Main output being muted
- Audio source state being reset
- Audio engine being recreated or restarted
- Scripture slide/template triggering an unintended audio action
- Output-specific audio state being changed when the slide type changes
Additional Test
If I stop the music first, display the Scripture slide, and then start the music again, the audio can play normally.
This suggests that the problem may occur specifically when changing the displayed slide while audio is already playing, rather than being a general audio playback failure.
Request
Please investigate the interaction between Scripture/Bible slides and the new Audio Routing system.
The audio playing on the Main output should remain completely independent from changing the displayed Scripture slide.
Thank you for your work on FreeShow and for continuing to improve the audio system.
