NEXRAD Level 2 lat long

I looked at the example of NEXRAD Level II :

The source converts azi/range to x/y, not lat long.

Convert az,range to x,y

xlocs = var_range * np.sin(np.deg2rad(az[:, np.newaxis]))
ylocs = var_range * np.cos(np.deg2rad(az[:, np.newaxis]))

We need lat/long. Can you post?

There's a function in MetPy to do this for you: azimuth_range_to_lat_lon. Is there something unclear in the docs that we need to improve?

And I was just reminded that we have recently updated that example (will be in the 1.4 released docs) to use azimuth_range_to_lat_lon. You can see it now in our development version docs.
