Bazel MCP Server

This is a open question to the community, feel free to discuss the following questions:

• Is there interest in a MCP server implementation for Bazel?
• Is this something that should be integrated into the vscode-bazel implementation?
• What other MCP servers exist already?
• What functionality would be expected from the MCP?

I'm not too familiar with MCP but is there any benefit for using it to interact with command line tools?

Yes.

It allows an AI agent to interact with bazel natively. The agent will discover the MCP commands bazel_build and bazel_test through the MCP server, and use them as feedback loop to fix bug, refactor code, etc.

Without a MCP, the agent would have to use another MCP (for instance, to control the terminal), with all the complexity this alternative brings: finding the path of the binary, the correct flags, environment, opening / reading the logs, handling terminal settings, you name it.

@qdii thanks for your input. Do you see build and test as the main MCP commands, or can you think of other commands (or shortcuts to complex terminal commands) that could be useful?
