Not working in JupyterLab

In the source code, there is a labModel and there is code to detect if it is in jupyter lab. However, I can't seem to get it to work. Is it supposed to work in jupyter lab or is there a planned enhancement to enable it in the future?

Any news on this one? I push Ctrl-Space in Chrome on Mac (Jupyter Lab) and ... nothing. Not sure how to diagnose it.
