Spotcast has moved to Mincka/spotcast #620

Description

@Mincka

Spotcast is now maintained at https://github.com/Mincka/spotcast

This repository (fondberg/spotcast) is abandoned and no longer receives
updates. Development continues on the new repository, which carries the v6
rewrite, ongoing bug fixes, and active maintenance. Credit to Niklas Fondberg
and Felix Cusson is preserved there.

Why the move

The v4 line stopped working with Spotify's authentication changes (login loops,
reauthentication failures, 400 Bad Request). The v6 rewrite is the fix: a
ground-up rework with a new OAuth-based setup flow. v6 was only ever published as
a pre-release here, so HACS never offered it to you as an update, which is exactly
why moving over matters.

How to migrate (HACS)

  1. Remove the existing Spotcast download from HACS only. Do not delete the
integration from Settings > Devices & Services, or you will lose your
    configuration.
  2. Add the new repository as a
    custom repository:
    https://github.com/Mincka/spotcast, category Integration.
  3. Download Spotcast from the new repository.
  4. Restart Home Assistant.

Home Assistant keys your configuration to the spotcast integration itself, not to
the repository it came from:

  • Coming from a v6 alpha/beta: a clean swap on the same major version. Your
accounts, tokens, entities and automations carry over untouched.
  • Coming from v4: v6 is a rewrite with a new setup flow (the old
sp_dc/sp_key YAML is gone). See the migration guide below for what changed.
