AI Framework Evaluation: Formalize Matrix & Run Proof of Concept #205

Description

@kingdonb

Summary

Formalize the evaluation of AI coding frameworks (Aider, Open Interpreter, etc.) against our current Claude Code baseline.

Business Value

Ensures we are using the most cost-effective and capable tool for the Mecris architecture (Goal 4), maximizing development velocity while strictly adhering to the <$30/month budget constraint.

Requirements

  • Create docs/AI_FRAMEWORK_EVALUATION.md to define the evaluation matrix (Cost, Speed, Context Management, Autonomy).
  • Implement scripts/evaluate_aider.py (or similar for another CLI framework) to run a controlled refactoring test.
  • Extract and compare token usage/cost data from the test run against historical Claude Code metrics in our Neon database.

Deliverables

  • Evaluation matrix document.
  • Proof-of-concept evaluation script.
  • Documented findings in the evaluation matrix.
