Task

T056 — G2 drills + evidence (quickstart §Phase 2): 20-trial <5 s visibility (desktop→phone), kill-switch drill (staging flip → read-only without restart → drain on re-enable), version-gate drill, attribution query on staging D1, and SC-004 measurement — 10,000-item staging vault over Wi-Fi: recent content browsable within 2 min of unlocking on the reference device

Phase context — Phase 3: User Story 1 — Open Your Vault on Your Phone (P1) 🎯 MVP — Train Phase 2 (Gate G2)

Goal: Existing user signs in, unlocks with password or recovery phrase,
browses their real vault read-only; production-safety kit verified end-to-end.

Independent Test (spec US1): on a phone that has never seen a real
desktop-created vault, sign in, unlock via password and separately via recovery
phrase, browse recent content. Standalone value: read-only companion.

Checkpoint — G2: all four drills green. This is the MVP: a trustworthy read-only companion on the developer's own device.

Ordering & dependencies

• Train gates are serial (Constitution): a phase does not start until the prior gate is green with evidence. Parallelism exists within a phase only.
• US1 depends on Phases 1–2 only. Within this phase: adapter tasks T037, T038, T039, T042 run in parallel after T033; T034 and T035 run in parallel.
• Feeds gate G2 — verification steps in quickstart.md §Phase 2 — G2.

Definition of done

• Constitution definition of done: pnpm lint, pnpm typecheck, tests, pnpm check:architecture, pnpm check:contracts, plus docs where the change is user-visible.
• No check-off without green evidence (Constitution III). Paste the evidence into this issue before closing.
• Backward compatibility is mandatory — real users run this on real data. Schema/contract/format changes need a stated migration + compat plan.

T056 evidence (Constitution III) — owner-verified 2026-08-27, reference device, post-#1858 staging server after a full staging reset + device wipe:

• Kill-switch drill ✓ — client_policies.ios.writes_enabled=0 → read-only banner on next foreground pass, no restart; re-enable clears it.
• Version-gate drill ✓ — min_write_version='99.0.0' → upgrade banner; back to NULL clears it.
• Attribution ✓ — reseeded staging D1: desktop-written rows carry client_platform=NULL (legacy, pre-header), zero ios rows as expected (mobile writes start in Phase 4).
• <5 s visibility ✓ — desktop edits visible on the phone in under 5 s.
• SC-004 ✓ — 10,000-item staging vault over Wi-Fi: recent content browsable within 2 min of unlock; first sync resumable across kill+relaunch; airplane-mode relaunch opens instantly without network.

Recordings/screenshots held by the owner; trail in draft PR #1827. On record, cosmetic (not a gate item): first-sync phase C progress is indeterminate under an all-recent vault — bar pinned at 80% "Fetching recent notes…" for the 10k tail; candidate Phase 14 polish fix.

G2 declared green — Phase 3 / US1 complete.
