qt_backend.py contains an import not working with python >= 3.4

Hello, my intention is to start an environment in which I could import soma. I cloned this repo, but soma/qt_gui/qt_backend.py contains import imp, so it won't work with Python >= 3.4

imp is deprecated but still exists before python 3.12. But you're right we need to adapt this module...

In my original post, I forgot to write that I did do cmake too.
Thank you for your response. In the present case, how can I actually build a project? Do you use a workaround to use imp with python 3.12? If so, could you share it?

It works fine when I use the development environment casa_distro from a container. Honestly, I don't understand why in that case the imp problem does not show up, so I am not sure if you want to leave this bug open.

Ah you're using python 3.12. I guess this is the answer: imp was planed to be removed in python 3.12. Our containers are using 3.10, which still contains imp.
I don't know if there exists a backward-compatibility module (via pip install?) or not. We have to adapt our codes, but we cannot go fast enough to be always aligned with cutting-edge latest versions of everything, considering the number of dependencies we rely on (hundreds of libraries and modudes), so this takes time...

I see, I was surprised, because I thought the module was removed for versions >=3.4 (as I incorrectly wrote in the title of this issue). Now all is clear, thank you for help and explication.
