Using latest and greatest master from today:

When I invoke an editor (vim in my case) the time in the status bar is still updated and confuses the editor. Maybe a side effect of the async editor.

Yeah actually its hard to get it completely right especially for all terminals. I have two patches lying around which improve the situation for the editor but bring other downsides.
Not yet decided what's the best thing to do here.
