Hi, I'm Daniel.
If you write Python tests that touch Redis, there's a good chance you've already run my code. I maintain fakeredis, which fakes out Redis, Valkey, DragonflyDB and KeyDB so your tests don't need a real server, a container, or a network connection. It gets installed around 39 million times a month, mostly by CI pipelines nobody thinks about until they break.
I work on it in evenings and weekends. It's not glamorous work. Most of it is chasing edge cases where the fake behaves a little differently from the real thing, and keeping up as Redis and its cousins keep adding commands. I've kept it current for years with help from a lot of contributors, and I'd like to keep it that way.
Open source doesn't pay rent. If fakeredis saves your team time, a few dollars a month helps me keep doing this properly instead of letting the issue tracker pile up. And if you've ever lost an afternoon to a test suite that needed a Redis container that wouldn't start, you already know what it's worth.
Companies that need an invoice or a PO instead of GitHub's checkout: email me at daniel@moransoftware.ca and I'll sort it out.
