Hi, I’m Dr. Hugo Karas 👋

An experimental physicist specialising in improving measurement methods and instrumentation in Electron Paramagnetic Spectroscopy (EPR) in the groups of Prof. Jeschke at ETH Zurich and Prof. Bordignon at the University of Geneva. Originally from Sc󠁿otland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 now based in Zürich 🇨🇭

Main Open Source Projects

  • autoDEER: is a Python-based GUI and scripted add-on for both homebuilt and Bruker ElexSys EPR spectrometers for performing fully-automated highly-optimised Double Electron Electron Resonance (DEER) spectroscopy.
  • PyEPR: is a Pythonic pulse EPR scripting and automation toolbox. Designed to facilitate the easy creation of automated pulse EPR experiments that are hardware indpendent.
  • DeerAnalysis: A complete rewrite of the popular DEER data analysis tool, DeerAnalysis, into a Python/Dash desktop application. Enabling the advanced features of DeerLab into a userfriendly GUI.
  • DeerLab: I am maintainer here, making sure that its stays up to date and stable. DeerLab is a widely used data analysis for advanced processing of DEER data.
  • pulsespel-vscode: Is a VScode extention to make it easier to write and edit Bruker PulseSpel files, by adding code highlighting.
