Hi! I'm Julia, a graduate student and researcher passionate about urban studies, geospatial analysis, and public policy. I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Economics at FEARP-USP (University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto), where I also work as a teaching assistant (monitor) in the Department of Economics. I am also engaged in a research assistant project at INSPER.
- M.Sc. in Economics (in progress) – FEARP-USP
- Research focus: Spatial distribution of gated communities and their implications for urban efficiency, accessibility, and public services
I'm developing a set of tools in R to detect horizontal gated communities across Brazilian municipalities using OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. This involves:
- Geometric cleaning and filtering of multipolygon data
- Detection of clusters of private residential streets
- Spatial intersection analysis between polygons and road networks
GitHub Repositories:
script_condos.R– Polygon-based filteringscript_condos_lines.R– Line-based detection and inference
- Urban economics
- Spatial inequality
- Public policy evaluation
- Geospatial methods (GIS, OSM, satellite data)
- Open data and reproducible research
- Programming in R and Python
- Geospatial packages:
sf,leaflet, osmdata, osmextract, terra, purrr, geobr - Data visualization and reproducible research with
RMarkdown,xaringan,ggplot2
I'm always happy to connect with other researchers, students, or professionals working with urban data, spatial methods, or development policy.
Feel free to reach out or explore the repositories. Contributions and collaborations are welcome!
