we actually can't be using internet permission for this project due to security reasons. howsoever this can be implemented with the curbox api, i have it in mind so i'll someday make a separate app that does it.

If I understand you correctly, this does not use internet permissions. It only needs:

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION" />
