Idea to add field for custom instructions in default email templates

What are your thoughts on adding another setting to the app that allows you to add custom text/HTML that would get injected into the default template above the variables? I like the default templates, but we always have to modify them in each alert we email out to provide a URL to additional instructions (i.e. runbook on steps to take).

It would be awesome to not have to copy/paste the default template in every app instance since the rest of the template remains the same, just adding some instructions to the top above the property loop.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure how this one slipped through the cracks, sorry about the long delay in responding :-/

We'll need to give this one some thought - over time we've been trying to move general capabilities like this (parameterization) from the individual apps back to the system itself, this seems like the kind of thing that fit that pattern. E.g. if alerts themselves could carry a bag of general-purpose properties, you'd attach e.g. RunbookUrl to each alert, and then configure a single app instance with {RunbookUrl} in the notification template.

Needs a bit of musing at our end, we're finalizing 2025.1 right now so the plan for the next few months is tight, but we'll loop back :-)

Thanks for circling back. I like that idea to be able to define the property at the source like the alert. The only downside about alerts so far is the inability to grab properties from an individual contributing event, e.g. select top 1 and show it's details
