+# Environmental Sustainability Technical Community Group
+
+The Environmental Sustainability Technical Community Group (TCG) continues the work of the former CNCF TAG Environmental Sustainability, advocating for, developing, supporting, and evaluating environmental sustainability initiatives in cloud native technologies.
+
+## Mission
+
+The Environmental Sustainability TCG serves as a community rallying point for discussing, sharing knowledge, and coordinating initiatives that help reduce the energy consumption and carbon footprint of cloud native tooling. The group continues to grow a community of practitioners, vendors, and end users focused on making sustainability a first-class concern across the cloud native landscape.

+## Background
+
+This TCG carries forward the work of the former TAG Environmental Sustainability, which was consolidated into TAG Operational Resilience as part of the 2025 CNCF TAG restructuring. The TCG gives the sustainability community - over 800 members strong on CNCF Slack - a dedicated, discoverable home to continue its work.
